En el año 1969 la gran cantante Nina Simone cantó por primea vez una canción escrita por Bill Whithers, un himno en honor a la juventud negra de aquella época y de todos los tiempos. El mensaje estaba dirigido a la juventud negra del mundo, SER NEGRO CON TALENTO Y JOVEN, ¡se puede!.
